CPA Scholarship Program
As an added benefit of being a member of the Canadian Parking Association,
the scholarship program was established as a means to foster the education of
CPA members, their spouses and dependents, and employees (some restrictions
apply).
Scholarships are intended to provide financial assistance to students
in their pursuit of academic excellence and to encourage post-secondary
study that enhances the parking industry in Canada.
Scholarships are now available for the 2010 Fall Semester
10 scholarships valued at $2000 each will be awarded to selected applicants
based on:
- Academic Achievements
- Volunteer/Community Service
- Area of Study*
*Areas of study are not restricted, however priority will be given to those
candidates who are studying in a parking or transportation related field.
Applicants must be currently accepted into a full-time program at an accredited
post-secondary educational institution. Preference will be given to first
time applicants.

The CPA Scholarship Fund is administered through the Canadian Parking Foundation,
in cooperation with the Association of Universities & Colleges of Canada.

Mr. Garfield Garwood
Garfield is a student in the Atkinson Faculty, studying a BA Hours in Sociology.
He is an active community member who has volunteered at:
- Terrace Pathfinder Youth Club for 10 years as a Youth Counsellor,
- York Federation of Students Foodbank,
- York is U (York's student group that helps students interact, socialize
and develop a sense of community and purpose).

The Tom Arnold Scholarship in Parking Industry Advancement at York University
Mr. Diego Llovet
Diego Llovet is a Doctoral student in the Sociology Department at York University.
Originally from Argentina, he arrived to Toronto in 2003 in pursuit of his
M.A. in Sociology, which he recently completed with a paper entitled "On
automobiles, drivers and the imaginative structure of the city". Since
his arrival at York University, he has worked under the supervision of Prof.
Alan Blum at the Culture of Cities Project, a major international research
initiative funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council
of Canada. Diego’s work focuses on urban life in general and on the
development of an account of the ways in which the use of the automobile
contributes to the form and experience of the city. The Board of Directors
of the Canadian Parking Association congratulates Diego on being selected
by York University for this scholarship. The 1st Quarter 2006 issue of the
Parker featuring an article from Diego demonstrating the relationship between
his studies and the Canadian parking industry.

Mr. Peter Carr
Peter Carr
is presently pursuing his Master’s degree in Physics at York University.
His research at the Vision Sensor Laboratory involves object identification
and tracking in large camera networks. His work specializes in highly overlapped
layouts where the number of calculations can be reduced while still achieving
high precision measurements of an object’s location. Peter received
his Bachelor’s of Science in Engineering Physics from Queen’s
University in 2002.
